An exciting new addition to the New England cultural landscape, the Westerly Museum of American Impressionism is located in the seaside town of Westerly, Rhode Island. Established by philanthropists and art collectors Cynthia D. and Thomas P. Sculco, the museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and exhibiting works of American Impressionism from the 1880s-1920s. Through engaging exhibitions and educational initiatives, the museum seeks to inspire and enrich lives by celebrating this vibrant art movement.
Situated on Watch Hill Road, the museum enjoys a stunning location overlooking Babcock Cove and the Pawcatuck River, offering a serene and fitting backdrop to the art collection. Within the museum’s eleven thoughtfully curated galleries, visitors can explore vibrant masterpieces by celebrated artists such as Childe Hassam, Jane Peterson, Lilla Cabot Perry, Willard Metcalf, John Singer Sargent, and many more. These works capture the light, color, and movement of iconic landscapes and everyday life, many of which evoke the charm of New England and the East Coast.
